Hyderabad, Feb. 24: The Praja Rajyam chief Chiranjeevi, on Tuesday mooted a proposal to sanction clemency for Maoist prisoners like political prisoners.
He said the PR would take all necessary steps for the well-being of surrendered Maoists if it came to power.
Moreover, the PR would set up a platform to drop cases against the surrendered Maoists. Some former extremists from various factions of the CPI (ML) and CPI (Maoist) joined the PR on
Tuesday.
While addressing the gathering the PR chief said: “You (Maoists) and we are fighting for social justice. But all these days, you took the path of violence. In democracy there is no place for violence. The change that we desire can be brought through democratic means.”
Meanwhile, the Nava Telangana Party of Devender Goud has called the state party executive on Wednesday to merge his party with the PR.
