Hyderabad, Feb. 27: It will be music and speeches all the way during the campaign for the 2009 Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
The TD has planned a musical war against the Congress government, especially targeting the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, his son Mr Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy and other family members of indulging in “corrupt practices” while taking pot shots at Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam in the run-up to the general elections.
The party’s leaders and actors Muralimohan and AVS said the party would produce 30 songs in Telugu for the election propaganda under the title Jayam Manade (Victory is ours).
Eighteen songs, in a set of three CDs were released on Friday. The racy tunes include Mahakutami, Kadilindi Mahakutami TD, TRS, CPM, CPI Mahakutami, Dopidi Congress Rajasekhara Avineethi meka ra and others.
“To attract people from all regions of the state, some of songs have a coastal Andhra slang while some are in Telangana dialects and some are composed by partially adapting hit tunes from Telugu movies,” Muralimohan said.
“Basically, the songs and proposed TV ads will focus on corruption and irregularities under the Congress government, misuse of power, and allotment of lands to favourite companies and the positive aspects of Naidu’s rule,” he added.
For a change, the party did not hire popular singers. Instead, it chose common singers through a SMS.
“We requested lyrics from people and got a good response. We chose some songs which are not only catchy but hits opponents hard,” AVS said.
