It’s ‘son rise’ on AP horizon

Hyderabad

March 17: It’s “son rise” time in Andhra Pradesh politics. Parents are grooming their children to enter active politics so that political lineage and control over the constituency remains intact.
The most prominent among the political heirs is Mr Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, son of the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy.
The sitting Kadapa Lok Sabha member, Mr Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, the brother of the Chief Minister, has already announced that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy will contest from the seat.
Lokesh, son of the Telugu Desam president, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu is another high-profile political heir. Even though Mr Naidu has not drafted him into active politics, he has given enough hints of Lokesh’s foray into politics.
Senior Congress MP, Mr G. Venkatswamy’s son Vivek is planning to get into his father’s shoes and contest the Peddapally Lok Sabha seat for the first time. The seat is held by his father at present.
The former MLA from Munugode Assembly constituency in Nalgonda district, Mr Palvai Goverdhan Reddy, is trying to get a ticket for his daughter, Ms Shravanti Reddy.
The TRS president, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, introduced his son, Mr K.T. Rama Rao and daughter, Ms Kavita into active politics. Though Mr Rao tried to shift his nephew, Mr Harish Rao, the Siddipet MLA, he failed to do so.
Another close relative, Mr Vinod Kumar was elected as MP from Hanamkonda, but due to delimitation, the constituency has ceased to exist. Mr Vinod now plans to contest from the Bhupalpally constituency.
