March 20: Political parties are beefing up security at their offices, fearing possible attacks from aspirants who are not given tickets for the elections. Party leaders expect an intense bout of rebellion and possibly violence when the lists of candidates are released on March 22,23 for the first phase of elections.
Gandhi Bhavan, Telang-ana Bhavan, NTR Trust Bhavan, Praja Rajyam Party office have become focal points of ticket seekers, along with the Chief Minis-ter’s camp office, the TD president, Mr N Chandra-babu Naidu’s residence at Jubilee Hills and residences of senior party leaders.
“Security has been beefed at NTR Trust Bhavan and Mr Naidu’s house as ticket seekers are thronging the place and venting their anger,” a senior leader said.
Recently, Ms Gundu Sudha Rani staged a dharna near Mr Naidu’s residence demanding a ticket for the Warangal East Assembly seat. She wanted the TD to ignore the CPI(M)’s request for the seat.
The TRS president, Mr K Chandrasekhar Rao, is working out of home because of the rush at Telangana Bhavan.
TRS activists from Nizamabad district barged into Telangana Bhavan and threw bouquets when their demand to retain a seat was turned down.
Troubles have been reported at party offices from Warangal, Krishna, Visa-khapatnam, East Godavari, Khammam, Mahbubnagar. There have been other incidents of violence too. MPRS activists set fire to Gandhi Bhavan demanding categorisation, killing three people.
In another case, Praja Rajyam activists attacked NTR Trust Bhavan to protest some remarks against Pavan Kalyan.
