10 terms out of AP MPs reach

Hyderabad, March 22: The record-holding MP from the state in the 14th Lok Sabha, Mr G. Venkataswamy, who served for seven terms has stood aside for his son, Mr G. Vivekananda, who will contest from the Peddapally (SC) reserved seat.

Mr Venkataswamy was MP in fourth, fifth, sixth, ninth, 10th, 11th and 14th Lok Sabha.

The Speaker, Mr Somnath Chatterjee, and former Prime Minister, Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee, have served for 10 terms while Mr George Fernandes and Mr Giridhar Gomang served for nine terms as MP.

Another Congress MP, Mr A. Sai Pratap, who got the Congress ticket again from Rajampet has served for five terms. He was MP from the ninth to 14th Lok Sabhas excluding the 13th.

Dr China Mohan from Tirupati, who was given Congress ticket, has been MP for five terms. He served as MP from eighth to 14th LS excluding 11th and 14th.
