Karimnagar
March 25: Protests broke out both in the Telugu Desam (TD) and the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) on Wednesday over the denial of tickets.
Six followers of TD party state secretary, Mr Gangula Kamalakar, attempted suicide at the party office fearing allocation of Karimnagar Assembly party ticket to a non-local.
In another incident, supporters of Mr Katari Devender Rao, who wants the TRS Karimnagar Assembly ticket, staged a protest at KCR Bhavan in the town upset over the possibility of ticket being allocated to the TD as part of seat-sharing.
In support of their demand that the party allot ticket to their leaders, two supporters of Mr Kamalakar consumed pesticide at party office, two others threatened to jump from the top of a building while two more activists poured kerosene and threatened to immolate themselves.
Two persons who consumed pesticide were admitted to a nearby private hospital.
The TRS dissidents felled trees at party chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s residence and burnt it in protest against the possible denial of Karimnagar ticket to Mr Devender Rao.
In Ramagundam, TD workers destroyed the furniture in the party office. They were upset by the allocation of Ramagundam Assembly seat to the TRS.
