Palmists on high demand

By J.R.PRASAD
Hyderabad, March 4: There is a growing demand not only for psephologists, but also for astrologers, soothsayers, Vaastu experts and palmists across the state as elections are fast approaching.
While aspirants are making a beeline at their party offices for tickets, their leaders are knocking the doors of the soothsayers to find out the prospects of their parties in the polls.
With the state preparing to witness a key competition among the three major parties, the ruling Congress, the Telugu Desam-led Grand Alliance and the Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam, the seasoned politicians are more keen on knowing their fate from the soothsayers.
Moreover, for the first time, the state is going to the polls with the newly delimited Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies. So, psephologists are also finding it hard to foresee the outcome of the polls.
Except leaders of the Left parties, politicians from the Congress, TD, TRS and the BJP are all busy consulting astrologers.
Recently, the TRS chief, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, performed a yagam at the Telangana Bhavan here to make his fortunes bright.
It is learnt that senior TD leaders like Mr K. Yerrannaidu, Mr Nagam Janardhan Reddy and Mr Kadiam Srihari, PR leaders like Mr K. Kala Venkata Rao and Mr T. Sitaram are seeking advice of soothsayers.
“Many politicians are approaching us to know their chances,” said Mr Narayana R. Rao, astro-
loger and palmist from Bhimavaram in West Godavari district, who recently hit the headlines, when the TRS chief had performed a Yagam under his guidance.
