Morning after: Parties start finger-pointing

By J.R.PRASAD
Hyderabad, March 3: A day after the poll schedule was announced, the chief electoral officer, Mr I.V. Subba Rao, was flooded with complaints by the ruling and Opposition parties accusing each other of violating the model code of conduct.
Leaders of the Mahakutami (Grand Alliance) led by the former minister from Telugu Desam, Mr K.Vijaya Rama Rao, complained to the CEO, Mr Subba Rao, that some leaders of the Congress were violating the code of conduct by erecting hoardings and suspending banners on public property in support of the ruling party.
They said the member of the TTD board and Congress leader, Mr Bhasker Reddy, and his followers had painted Tricolour on all the electric poles in Chittoor district and also put photos of Mr Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, son of the Chief Minister, Mr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, to the poles, which was nothing but violating the code.
Meanwhile, MLCs of the Congress, Mr Rudraraju Padma Raju and Mr K. Janardhan Reddy submitted another memorandum to the CEO, Subba Rao, alleging that TD leadership was circulating innumerable SMSes with an intention to malign the government under the name “Save AP” without mentioning the details of the sender. Hence, the Congress leaders wanted a probe to look into the
matter.
