March 6: It is a busy time for tailors of the district with police officers and politicians getting their respective “uniforms” for the
elections.
And since the polls are taking place in scorching summer, both the groups are taking special care to dress for the occasion. As many as 2,000 police personnel would be on duty in the polls scheduled to be held on April 16 in the district.
Local police officers will also be shifted for election duties in Andhra region on April 23. From deputy superintendent to circle inspectors and constables, everyone will be performing their duties in the open areas under the searing sun.
Taking this into account, the senior cops have asked their juniors to get additional uniforms for election duty.
“We have noticed that the khaki uniforms fade quickly in summer,” said a police officer. “So we are stitching exclusive uniform for elections.”
With the cops placing orders, the tailor shops in Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Bodhan, Armoor and Banswada have turned busy. “This was slack season but we have got much work because of the elections,” said Mr.K.Balaiah, who runs a tailor shop in Subhashnagar in Nizamabad. “We are ready to give the uniforms on the time for police officers.”
