MAA to back Roja against PR

By Our Correspondent
Hyderabad, Feb. 28: Movie Artistes’ Association (MAA) of the Telugu film industry warned politicians against making derogatory remarks against any actor or actor-turned-politician.
It issued the warning in the wake of an ongoing verbal duel between the Praja Rajyam women’s wing leader, Ms Shoba Rani, and the TD leader and actor Roja.
The association decided to support Roja as she regretted her remarks.
Ms Shoba Rani had said that Roja was skimpily dressed while acting in movies and threatened to paste indecent photographs of her all over the state. Roja retaliated and asked Chiranjeevi and Pavan Kalyan to reveal how many girls they “misbehaved” with.
The association decided to support Roja as she regretted her remarks.
“Roja only reacted to remarks made by Shoba. She acted in movies cleared by the Censor Board and not in obscene movies. We demand Shoba to apologise. If any actor feels bad at the remarks made by political leaders, they can approach us,” said Mr Maharshi, joint secretary, MAA.
Actors cutting across political lines met on Saturday and decided to protest with chiefs of political parties if their leaders do not desist from making derogatory comments against actors.
Actors Jayasudha and Jeevitha Rajasekhar affiliated to the Congress, Murali Mohan and AVS affiliated to the TD were present at the meeting. Chiranjeevi’s brother Nagababu expressed his support to MAA over the phone.
