BJP attempts to regain past glory in twin cities

Hyderabad, April 13: The BJP is pooling in its resources to regain its lost glory in the twin cities. Party leaders have intensified election campaign to win at least six seats in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts.

The party hopes to win from Amberpet and Musheerabad Assembly segments and Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency. It is also hopeful that it will romp home in Khairatabad, Uppal, Malkajgiri, Karwan and Goshamahal segments if a little push is given. The BJP spokesperson, Mr N. Ramachander Rao, said, “multi-cornered contest is going to be a boon for the party. We will do miracles even in other parts of the state.”

Meanwhile, the state BJP leaders are stuck with one helicopter which they are not using. Neither Mr L.K. Advani nor the second-rung leaders are enthusiastic to campaign in the state.

As there are no star campaigners, the helicopter is mostly parked at Begumpet airport. The Gujarat Chief Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, who came here on a special flight did not use the helicopter as he did not go to any other place.

In the last one month, the helicopter has been used only for a few times.

The BJP state president, Mr Dattatreya, went to Bhadrachalam, Jammalamadugu and Kottagudem recently. Local leaders were surprised to see him arrive for a party meeting in a helicopter. “Several central BJP leaders are expected to come next week. So, we can use the helicopter during the second phase of the polls,” said a source in the party.
