Hyderabad, April 18: The Telugu Desam president, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, has appointed senior party leaders as observers in Lok Sabha constituencies in the second phase of polls to guide candidates and to prevent erosion of votes.
In Kadapa district, where the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, is contesting from Pulivendula Assembly constituency and his son, Mr Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, from Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency, the TD chief has appointed Mr Nagam Janardhan Reddy as observer.
Mr Janardhan Reddy has a grouse against the Chief Minister since the latter pulled all stops to defeat him in the Nagarkurnool Assembly constituency. Whether the Congress has succeeded is yet to be known but the TD leader is planning to make things difficult for the Chief Minister too.
Mr Naidu wants to ensure a drop in votes for the father-son duo in Kadapa mainly to embarrass them.
To pay back in the same coin, Dr Rajasekhar Reddy conducted a strategy session to put up a tough fight against Mr Naidu in Kuppam Assembly constituency. Besides the Chief Minister, and his son Mr Jaganmohan Reddy too had toured the constituency.
The other Desam observers include Mr Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy: Kakinada; Mr Ayyanna Partrudu: Amalapuram; Mr Ravula Chandasekhar Reddy: Rajahmundry; Mr Y. Ramanamurthy: Naraspuram; Mr Ashok Gajapathi Raju: Eluru; Mr Revuri Prakash Reddy: Bandar.
