Hyderabad, April 14: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti president, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, on Tuesday tried to woo settlers in the twin cities saying they were close to his heart and he would live in a colony with them if Telangana is carved out.
Mr Rao said he along with the Telugu Desam president, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, would become the kingmakers after the polls and they would “tick” the Prime Minister’s name.
Mr Rao undertook whirlwind tour of the cities on the last day of campaigning for the first phase of polls to be held on April 16 addressing roadside meetings at Motinagar, Qutuballapur and Ramnagar.
Asserting that the Mahakutami would win the elections with a comfortable majority, he said Telangana would be a reality if they come to power.
He said the TRS nominee Mahamood Ali is the official candidate of the Mahakutami from Secunderabad and asked voters to elect him. He also appealed to voters to support TRS nominee Sudarshan, who is contesting from Kukatpally Assembly constituency and ignore Lok Satta’s Jayaprakash Narayan.
Stating that the Mahakutami has sent shivers in the Congress camps, he said the cash transfer scheme and colour TV has become its trump card.
The TRS chief criticised the UPA chairperson, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, and the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, for ditching the people of Telangana. “People will teach a bitter lesson to them. They have played with the sentiments of the people and have to pay a heavy price. They will be thrown out of power in the elections,” he said.
He added that the Chief Minister had looted the state to the tune of Rs one lakh crore in the last five years.
