YSR: Political games not at cost of development

Hyderabad, April 19: The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekar Reddy, wrote in his blog, “votecong.com”, that development cannot wait till politicians finish playing games. Dr Reddy also wrote that his stand on the crucial Telangana issue has not changed.

“The people in Vizag desperately need the water from Polavaram project,” he writes. “A farmer in East or West Godavari ploughs his land hoping that water from Polavaram will help him. Likewise, a farmer in Guntur and Prakasam tries to reassure himself that a good harvest due to water from Pulichintala project will help him send his son to a good engineering college. As politicians, we don’t have the right to play with their dreams, but should strive to make their dreams come true.”
Dr Reddy objected to the TRS stand on Andhra and Rayalaseema projects and wrote that people of other regions have never opposed the Pranahita-Chevella, Bhima, Nettempadu and Kalwakurti irrigation projects in Telangana and an IIT coming to Medak.
“But the TRS is against Polavaram and Pulichintala projects. And the TD, which is an ally of the TRS, is knocking the doors of the farmers of Krishna, Godavari, Guntur and Prakasam, asking for votes. But Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu must answer the questions of the farmers first,” wrote Dr Reddy.
“Mr Naidu has not explained his stand on some issues which the the TRS chief, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, had talked about, like interests of people in other regions. It was Mr Chandrasekhar Rao who said educational institutions run by people from coastal Andhra have no place in Telangana. What is Mr Naidu’s response to that statement? Has he discussed it with KCR?” asked Dr Reddy.
