CM ‘attacks’ Opposition

Ongole/Bapatla/Tenali, April 17: The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, during his whirlwind tour of the districts on Friday appealed to the voters not to trust the promises made by the Telugu Desam (TD) president, Mr N. Chandrababu, alleging that Mr Naidu was a cheater and an opportunist.

As part of his electioneering, Dr Reddy conducted road shows and public meetings in Addanki, Bapatla, Tenali, Mangalagiri, Guntur, Parchurand and Yerrgondapalem.

At a public meeting, Dr Reddy criticised the Grand Alliance, alleging that it was formed with the only motive of defeating the Congress. He further lashed out at Mr Naidu saying that the TD leader had previously made an election pact with the BJP and had now joined hands with the Left.

Dr Reddy questioned how Mr Naidu had made poll alliance with the Telangana Rastra Samiti (TRS) when the party chief, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, was creating hurdles for construction of Polavaram and Pulichintala projects in the Coastal Andhra.

He further criticised the TRS leader stating that Mr Rao was not bothered about Godavari waters flowing into sea and was instead more worried over the construction of irrigation projects for cultivation.

The Chief Minister came down heavily on the TD and the TRS terming their alliance as Dushta Chatushtayam (bad quartet).

Dr Reddy assured that the Congress was going to enhance the 20 kg quota of rice to 30 kg under the Rs 2-a-kg rice scheme and further assured that seven hours of free power would be augmented to nine hours.

With reference to the Praja Rajyam, Dr Rajasekhar Reddy said it was a Gandaragola Rajyam (chaotic kingdom). He said that public life was not like watching a three-hour film. Hence, the PR leader should have a dedication to serve the people first.
