Hyderabad, April 13: Political parties are using a bewildering array of epithets to present their visions of Andhra Pradesh in the election campaign.
While the TD is harping on ‘Swarna Andhra Pradesh’ (Golden Andhra Pradesh), the Congress is using ‘Haritha Andhra Pradesh’ (Green Andhra Pradesh) in tune with its priority to agricultural and irrigation sectors.
Chiranjeevi’s PRP has coined ‘Santosha Andhra Pradesh (Happy Andhra Pradesh) and BJP, which has been criticising the government of going soft on terror, is reaching out to voters with the slogan ‘Suraksha Andhra Pradesh’ (Safer AP). Political parties said they coined the adjectives in tandem with their manifestoes.
“Security and safety is a top priority for us,” said the BJP state president, Mr Bandaru Dattatreya. “There have been so many bomb blasts. The government has failed to provide security without which, there is no development. We designed this slogan as we thought this is the best way to draw voters’ attention.”
“Our slogan is social justice and the end of social justice is happiness,” said Mrs Vasireddy Padma, official spokesperson of PR.
Meanwhile, parties are also using negative epithets of AP to criticise their opponents. For instance, the TD chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu and the CPM leader, Mr B.V. Raghavulu, are hitting out at the Congress saying that under its rule the state has become ‘Nera Andhra Pradesh’ (Crime Andhra Pradesh) and ‘Avineethi Andhra Pradesh’ (Corrupt Andhra Pradesh).
