Chiru’s engine gets a jolt

It also said that the party had contested in the 2004 elections on that symbol.
Rashtriya Krantikar Samajwadi, which has its headquarters at Lucknow said in its petition that it was all set to contest in all the 220 Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh apart from contesting in other states this time.
Mr Anumolu Venkateswara Rao, advocate of the party said, “My client and president of the party, Mr Gopal Roy, has sought the rail engine as a common symbol.”
According to Mr Venkateswara Rao, the allotment of rail engine symbol to Praja Rajyam cannot be final as the court has not yet given the final judgement.
“The court directed the election commission to allot the symbol to PR by passing interim orders. We hope that the symbol is given to us again. Otherwise, the election commission has to conduct a lottery when two unrecognised parties seek the same symbol,” Mr Venkateswara Rao added.
Meanwhile, the PR leaders are tight lipped over the issue.
Sources said the party may approach its legal advisors as the case has been posted for Thursday.
