HYDERABAD, April 9: With elections being the in thing everyone tries to be part of it in one way or the other and the self styled poet Ms L. Nirmala is no exception.
Ms Nirmala wrote a collection of poems titled Ennikalalo and convinced Chief Electoral Officer Dr I. V. Subba Rao to release it as the book highlighted the importance of exercising franchise. She also recited a couple of poems which talked about the adverse impact of not voting and encouraging electors to vote.
But what makes the book interesting is that there were several references, some very strong in nature, against film actors entering politics, parties luring voters with promises of TVs, several parties joining alliances and encouraging dynasty rule.
In one poem Ms Nirmala warns of facing scarcity for food grains if voters are carried away by promises of TV and mobile phones and in the other she says parties form “mahakutamis” as they lack individual strength. The poet also says an actor who took remuneration to act, dance and utter a single dialogue, is all set to unveil his political career. She laments that no political party gives priority to Other Castes during polls while they hold meetings of SCs,BCs and STs.
