Hyderabad, April 9: The Praja Rajyam chief, Chiranjeevi, on Thursday ridiculed the Telugu Desam chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu’s poll promises and said he was announcing impractical schemes because of his hunger for power.
He wondered how Mr Naidu could mobilise financial sources for all the promises he has made in the event of his being voted to power.
Chiranjeevi, while addressing meetings in his whistle-stop campaign across the city, also criticised the Congress and said both the ruling party and the Telugu Desam were cut from the same cloth as far as corruption is concerned.
“Mr Naidu had encouraged organised corruption during his nine-year regime,” he said. “And the present government has opened floodgates for corruption.”
He made an appeal to people to defeat the Congress and the Telugu Desam in the ensuing polls.
“Every voter should ensure that the Praja Rajyam wins the election battle so as to bring about the desired change in society,” he said.
Crowds gathered on the roads to have a glimpse of the matinee idol, and Chiranjeevi urged all of them to vote for his political party.
In his speeches, he pointed out that unlike the Telugu Desam, his party had not made impractical promises in its manifesto.
However, he promised that the first file he would sign after becoming the Chief Minister would be to provide groceries to the people for Rs 100.
