Hyderabad, April 5: With the first phase of polls just 10 days away compounded with the rising mercury, candidates are banking more on the Internet to reach voters.
Through mails, they are wooing voters and explaining their inability to meet voters individually due to time constraints.
Malkajgiri Lok Sabha candidates have appointed youngsters to collect the email IDs of voters to campaign through the Net. The constituency, which has over 21 lakh voters, feel that ‘Net campaign’ is best unlike traditional methods.
Considering time constraint, Mr T. Bhimsen, the TD candidate from Malkajgiri LS seat, is emphasising on hi-tech campaign by creating the party’s website to explain the policies and welfare schemes of the TD.
“We will get feedback from voters through the website. It helps me to understand the problems in different localities. I can discuss the issues with other leaders before giving an assurance to voters,” said Mr Bhimsen.
The Congress Lok Sabha candidate, Mr Sarve Satyanarayana, and the Praja Rajyam candidate, Mr T. Devender Goud, are also relying on SMSes, emails since it is easy to grab the attention of voters.
“Net campaign is always better since citizens can check their mails according to their convenience,” said Mr Devender Goud.
“It is of great benefit since we can explain our problems through the Net. We lack civic amenities. We will vote for the person who solves our problems,” said Mr N. Kumar of Abestos Colony in SCB.
