MIM reworks hit songs for campaign

Hyderabad, April 5: The Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) has resurrected melodies of yesteryears in order to attract voters in the old city.

Sensing the pulse of the electorate, the Majlis has reworked hit Bollywood numbers to suit its campaign and take pot-shots at the Opposition.
Qawwalis, patriotic songs, popular music and dialogues which have been reworked, are being played on loud speakers and attracting huge crowds.
Bollywood hit numbers like Didi tera dewar deewana from the film Hum Aapke Hain Kaun has been reworked to Babu (TD Prez Naidu) tera waada purana, hai ram voter ko daale daana, TV doonga kehkar bahlana, hai ram voter ko daale daana, or Saiyya dil mein aana re, aake phir na jaana re chum chama chum has been changed to Voting booth ko jaana re sab ko leke jaana re waha’n button daba na re.
Even patriotic numbers like Yeh desh hai veer jawano ka from Naya Daur has been given a political flavour like Majlis hai hum mastano ki, bachcho aur jawano ki, and golden hits like aane uske aaye bahaar have been reworked to aane se majlis ke aaye bahaar.
Even famous dialogues from the film Mughal-e-Azam has been reworked with local artistes miming the heavy voice of Prithvi Raj Kapoor: Ilzaam Hai ke Asaduddin Owaisi ne Parliament ke har session mein akhliyatho ke mudde uthaye (raised minorities issues).
The reworked numbers have become so popular that they have become a topic of discussion among voters in the old city. MIM MLA from Charminar Ahmed Pasha Quadri is reported to have got these numbers reworked by the orchestra team named Bhoole Bisre Geet. When contacted, Akbar Agha of Bhoole Bisre Geet confirmed this to the newspaper.
