Mahakutami sounds poll bugle

Suryapet (Nalgonda), April 6: The Mahakutami allies put up a striking display of unity at a public meeting held here and exhorted people to defeat the “corrupt” Congress

government led by the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy.
Leading the attack on the Congress, the Telugu Desam president, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, said that the UPA chairperson, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, and Dr Reddy had stashed away money in Swiss bank accounts.
“Indians have hidden about Rs 75 lakh crore in Swiss banks,” he said.
“If the ill gotten money is bought back to country, all our problems will be solved and we can easily implement several welfare measures including the cash transfer scheme and colour TV scheme.”
The CPI National secretary, Mr A.B. Bardhan, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, the CPI state secretary, Mr K. Narayana, and the CPI(M) leader, Mr B.V. Raghavulu, addressed gathering. They said that the Mahakutami would defeat the Congress government in the state and install a third front government in the Centre.
“People of this region had defeated Nizam nawabs through Telangana armed struggle, and I am sure they will bring down the YSR government,” said Mr Raghavulu.
The CPI(M), CPI and the TRS leaders presented Mr Naidu as their chief ministerial candidate if the Mahakutami is voted to power.
Mr Naidu doled out several promises to the people of Suryapet including a four lane road from
Vijayawada, an underground drainage system, and the Krishna drinking water scheme. He also said that Telangana would be reality under Mahakutami.
“The Congress will go home and YSR will go back to Edupulapaya,” said Mr Naidu, who wore four Khandavas of four parties, a pagree and also carried a Trishul presented by party activists.
However, Mr Bardhan’s speech in Hindi evoked boos from the crowd and he had to cut it short.
“We too are working for a change at the Centre and this Mahakutami will help us,” he said
The TRS chief, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, in a hard hitting speech in typical Telangana dialect, attacked Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and Dr Reddy for cheating the people of
Telangana.
He also charged the Chief Minister with looting the state.
On the other hand, he was all praise for Mr Naidu and said that he would stand by Telangana.
He also left people in splits by talking about how his teeth chattered on the bumpy ride from Donthallapalle to Suryapet.
He promised to take up the four-lane road on priority immediately after
the Mahakutami government was formed.
“The roads here are awful,” he said. “I was afraid I would lose my teeth. If Mahakutami wins, the steering will be in our hands.”
Meanwhile, Mr Naidu lavished praise on Junior NTR and said he was recovering fast and was keen to campaign.
“This 25-year-old actor has created history,” he said. “He is like a political tsunami. The evil eyes of Congress has fallen this young hero and that is why he met with an accident.”
