Gandhi Bhavan, the Congress headquarters, is almost empty barring a few leaders visiting it. Barring occasional press conferences addressed by the official spokesperson, only a handful of people are seen.
The Congress, Telugu Desam, TRS, MIM, CPI and the CPI(M) legislature parties, too, wear a deserted look but for occasional press meets.
The finance and legislature affairs minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, is holding the fort in the absence of the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy and the APCC president, Mr D. Srinivas, who are contesting from Pulivendla and Nizamabad Assembly constituencies.
The situation is no better at the NTR Trust Bhavan, the Telugu Desam headquarters at Jubilee Hills. The worst hit are the petty vendors who used to do good business when party activists from all over the state visited the headquarters during ticket allotment.
“Sales have dropped completely after the announcement of final list of candidates. There are no buyers,” says Narayana, who sells cotton fabrics.
The Telangana Bhavan too wears a deserted look. Except for few office staff, no leader is visiting the Bhavan. “All are busy in campaigning. Hence there are no leaders,” says Mr K. Dileep Kumar, MLC.

Golden silence at party offices
Hyderabad, April 8: Party offices have lost their sheen with leaders and workers busy campaigning. Even the secretariat looks dull with an eerie silence.
