Chiru to Mitra: You still here?

BY J.R.PRASAD

Hyderabad, April 10: Rattled by the recent desertions and exodus of senior leaders from the party, Praja Rajyam chief Chiranjeevi asked his close aide, Dr P. Mitra, “Are you still in the party?” The actor-turned-politician was making an oblique reference to those who left his party. His tone, however, was jocular.

Dr Mitra was addressing a press meet when Chiranjeevi stepped in. In mock surprise, he asked Dr Mitra: “Oh! you are still there. I am asking you this question because I so many people leaving the party.” Chiranjeevi then winked at the scribes with a smile.

Responding to the question, Dr Mitra said, “I am in the party, Sir. Have you any doubt?”

When asked about Mr Parakala’s comment that the PR was like a “poisonous tree,” Chiranjeevi said, “PR is a Kalpa Vruksham (boon-giver).”

“Despite desertions, the PR will emerge victorious,” he said. He also said that the accusations of “ticket sales” were baseless.

“Ours is the only party which has allotted tickets in accordance with social justice,” said the PR chief.

Chiranjeevi made an appeal to the media not to highlight internal disturbances in the PR, as every party suffers from the same problem.
