Jogaiah gets isolated in PR

BY J.R.PRASAD

Hyderabad Nov. 27: The “soul-searching” letter written by Mr Ch. Harirama Jogaiah recently to the Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi appears to have ruffled quite a few feathers within the party. Despite Chiranjeevi’s statement that Mr Jogaiah was a fatherly figure to him, the veteran politician is being increasingly sidelined by the party leaders after his letter embarrassed the Praja Rajyam’s top brass.

This became evident on Thursday, when Mr Jogaiah was selected only as one of the 30 members in the Praja Rajyam’s manifesto committee set up by Chiranjeevi. The Praja Rajyam president preferred Mr P. Shiv Shanker and Mr P. Upendra, to Mr Jogaiah, the man behind Chiranjeevi’s political entry, as convenors to the manifesto committee. Mr Shiv Shanker and Mr Upendra were not active in politics for a long time, whereas Mr Jogaiah had left the Congress as an MP to join the Praja Rajyam. Mr K.S.R. Murthy, Mr Parakala Prabhakar and Mr P. Mitra were appointed as co-convenors.

Seasoned politicians Kotagiri Vidyadhar Rao, Tammineni Sitaram, Y. Shivaji, Vanga Geeta, Dalit leader Kanaka Rao Madiga, BC leader Mr V.G.R. Naragoni, Dalit poet Katti Padma Rao, former IPS officer Anjaneya Reddy were among the prominent persons in the 30-member committee. Mr Tota Chandrasekhar, former IAS officer from Maharashtra cadre was also included in the committee. The PR spokesperson Mr Parakala Prabhakar released the PR’s manifesto committee along with Chiranjeevi, on Thursday.
