Hyderabad, Nov. 9: A survey carried out for the Telugu Desam shows that the anti-incumbency factor facing the government was relatively small. Another survey was carried out by Chandrababu Naidu’s batch mate and professor in the SV University recently. Though the details of the results were not known, sources said that it warned the TD leadership the polls were not going to be a cakewalk.
“All these days we are of the opinion that price rice and corruption in the construction of irrigation projects would make the people go against the present regime. But, our surveys showed a different picture,” said a young TD legislator who took part in the exercise.
Interestingly, after the TD’s endorsed statehood for Telangana, Andhra voters especially the those belonging to the dominant castes are leaning towards the Chief Minister, Mr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, for his united AP stance. This survey also pointed out that the impact of the Praja Rajyam would be confine to north Andhra. The PR is likely to make a dent in the BC vote bank in the region on which the TD has been relying on since its inception.
