Lack of committees in PR confuse partymen

BY J.R.PRASAD

Hyderabad, Sept. 12: Problems due to lack of a hierarchy and democracy in the Praja Rajyam surfaced recently as party leaders from across the state arrived at the party headquarters. As party committees are yet to be formed, these leaders are confused about whom they have to meet.

They are later directed to meet the spokespersons. A meeting with spokespersons confuses the leaders even more as party is yet to decide its policies on contentious issues like naxalism, categorisation of SCs and separate Telangana. Apart from the two official spokespersons Mr P. Mitra and Mr Parakala Prabhakar, who were appointed by the party chief Chiranjeevi, the party has got four unofficial spokespersons who migrated from different parties.

Mr K. Vidyadhara Rao, Mr Tammineni Sitaram and Mr C. Ramachandraiah who pledged their support to Chiranjeevi were spok-espersons in the Telugu Desam. Mr K.S.R.Murthy, who was a Congress spokesperson is continuing the job in Praja Rajyam .

It is normal practice in any party to appoint those leaders who have articulation and less public base. Meanwhile, the PR seems to be slowly adopting the day to day functioning of any other political party with a regular Press conferences everyday at party central office. Though the PR leadership told that the PR would not react to personal attacks unlike other parties, Mr Mitra and Mr Prabhakar are passing critical remarks at the Congress and the Telugu Desam in the routine Press meets everyday.
