Hyderabad, Oct. 24: The actor-turned-politician has established a network of informants in the Praja Rajyam to keep a watch on the movements of party leaders and inform the top brass. Like the Telugu Desam, the PR recently appointed young graduates to look after PR offices in district headquarters by paying them a salary. The party calls them office coordinators. A part from looking after administration, they will help party leader’s co-ordinate. They are also being used as spies by the party to keep a watch on leaders.
“The appointments were made in Hyderabad. Though all these coordinators are employees, we have no authority over them. They report to the top brass at the central office. We don’t know what orders they get from the party leaders,” a PR leader in Warangal district said expressing his displeasure over the development. According to party sources, the informants will also prepare confidential reports on the party leaders. The Praja Rajyam spokesperson, Mr Parakala Prabhakar, denied any espionage. “It is true we appointed employees to co-ordinate party activities at district level. They are not spying for the party’s top brass.”
