Hyderabad, Nov. 5: In her highly emotional letter to her brothers, the Union minister of state, Ms Daggubati Purandareswari, recalled that in 1995, Mr Naidu took the help of Harikrishna to topple N.T. Rama Rao and then sidelined him. Mr Naidu has lately rehabilitated Harikrishna only to gain power, she said. "When NTR declared that Balakrishna was his political heir, Mr Naidu compelled him to withdraw the announcement," Ms Purandareswari said.
She wondered how Mr Naidu who used to say he was against nepotism was now going out of his way to persuade NTR's sons to support him. "Mr Naidu who never respects relatives is craving for NTR's family support only for power. He roped in Balakrishna in order to persuade Taraka Ratna, who preferred his uncle as Chief Minister to Mr Naidu," Ms Purandareswari said.
Mr Naidu needed Balakrishna to persuade Junior NTR to support him, Ms Purandareswari wrote. "Power hungry Naidu is once again using all tricks to achieve his aim through NTR's sons."
Ms Purandareswari reminded her brothers that she had joined the Congress only with their blessings. She asked her brothers, "I can't bear to see the injustice done to our father. I have seen his anguish very closely," she wrote.
"The legendary personality who never yielded to anybody suffered during his last days due to the wrong doings of Mr Naidu. Those painful memories linger in my mind. I appeal to you to recall our father's agony and act in accordance as his heirs."
