Not many takers for KK’s last letter

Telangana advocate and Congress senior leader K Kesava Rao’s proposal to write a ‘final letter’ to the Congress high command with “fiery words” over the separate state issue seems to have hit a roadblock.
Of the six Congress MPs from Telangana, Ponnam Prabhakar, G Vivekanand, Gutta Sukhender Reddy, Madhu Yashki Goud, Siricilla Rajaiah and Suresh Kumar Shetkar, who are vocal in their criticism of party high command over the T-issue, some are expressing their displeasure over Kesava Rao’s recent statement on behalf of them.
“How could Kesava Rao make such a statement on behalf of us saying that we would write a final letter to the high command over Telangana issue? He should have consulted all the MPs from the region before making such a statement,” said an MP.
According to one MP, Kesava Rao has prepared a draft of the proposed letter, to be sent to AICC president Sonia Gandhi, using some strong words.
He even set December 9 as the deadline for the high command to accord statehood to the region, implying that past that deadline the MPs from the region would quit the party.
But the MPs have reportedly not agreed to this, as they do not want to invite the wrath of their party top brass now.
Though some of these MPs are planning to quit the party in the event of a negative decision by their high command over the T-issue, they are against taking any risk at this juncture by revolting against the leadership.
Some of the MPs, therefore, want to send another “letter with polite words” requesting the party leadership to take a speedy decision.
In fact, the MPs wrote one such letter to their leadership some months ago.
MP Palvai Govardhan Reddy also did not approve of the very proposal of writing a final letter.
