He came, he ate with them, he conquered their hearts.
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, who wants his father and Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav to occupy the prime minister’s post after 2014 polls, seems to have fully utilised his two-day visit to Hyderabad to cement his party’s relationship with some top politicos in the state.
During his two-day stay in the state capital on Saturday and Sunday, the young politician paid visits to various top politicians, including chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and Union minister Chiranjeevi.
During these breakfast and dinner meetings, Akhilesh had “friendly talks” with them on various issues ranging from present political scenario to welfare schemes, being implemented by Kiran Reddy’s regime.
If the SP prince had enquired about the welfare schemes being undertaken by the state government during his meet with Kiran Reddy, he discussed the contours of the proposed federal front with Naidu. He confabulated with Chiranjeevi on some important tourism projects in UP.
The young CM, who had called on Kiran Reddy and Naidu on Saturday, drove straight to the residence of K Chiranjeevi on Sunday and had a friendly talk with the film star-turned-politician.
PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana, ministers Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Vatti Vasanth Kumar and Danam Nagender, and MP T Subbarami Reddy too took part in the meeting.
The UP chief minister also called on revenue minister N Raghuveera Reddy, who belongs to Yadava community, and TDP senior Talasani Srinivas Yadav at their residences separately.
Stating that he came here to participate in the Yadava conference, Akhilesh declined to elaborate, but said, “I met various top politicos in the state in order to strengthen our bonding.”
Yadava meet: While participating in the All India Yadava Maha Sabha national executive meeting, held at Nagole here on Sunday, Akhilesh stressed the need for unity of all Yadavas across the country.
“I am delighted to take part in this meeting where all yadavas cutting across party lines joined here. It is time for Yadavas to unite,” he said.
The UP chief minister felt that Yadavas were now moving forward on a par with other sections of society in various fields. However, they still need to excel in education, he added.
Akhilesh said his party was able to eliminate backwardness in UP by distributing laptops to students from downtrodden sections of society.
