TD, TRS to launch campaign

Hyderabad Jan. 3: Opposition parties led by the Telugu Desam are planning a public campaign against corruption in the Congress government by citing the example of fisheries department executive engineer V. Suryanarayana. The TD president, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, talked to his Telangana Rashtra Samiti counterpart, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, on the issue on his way to Narkatpally in Nalgonda district and sought his support. The TRS chief agreed to extend support and also promised to come out with a novel campaign idea. “We will plan a massive campaign against the corrupt Congress government,” Mr Rao said. TRS sources said the issue of alliance was not discussed and it may be decided after Sankaranti.

Later, addressing a Girijan training camp of Alair and Medak constituencies at Telangana Bhavan, Mr Rao said all the lambada thandas in Telangana would be upgraded into gram panchayats with all facilities when a separate state was carved out. “Lambadas are selling infants as they are unable to feed them. They are treated with contempt by Andhra rulers. While lambadas in Andhra Region are placed under ST category, such privilege is not extended to them in Telangana,” he rued. Welcoming the lambadas in their mother tongue, he said Telangana was the only solution to solve the problems of people of region. “I wept bitterly seeing the plight of fluoride affected people in Nalgonda. Many of them are as good as dead. Everyone will be moved by their plight, but not the Congress government. Though Krishna river passes by, no effort has been made to provide potable water to them,” he alleged.
