Shabbir notice to Pavan

Hyderabad Jan. 3: The energy minister, Mr Mohd Ali Shabbir, on Saturday, issued legal notice to Praja Rajyam youth wing leader Pavan Kalyan demanding a public apology to the Congress, to Muslims and to him for making “baseless allegations.” Pavan Kalyan had called Mr Ali a “deshadrohi” (traitor) and accused him of “siphoning off funds from the Wakf Board.” The actor later amended his statement to call Mr Ali “daivadrohi (betrayer of religion).”

Mr Ali pointed that Pavan Kalyan’s statement had caused widespread criticism and “rioting”. The notice was served on the actor at his Jubilee Hills address by the minister’s counsel, Ms C. Sindhu Kumari.
Sources close to Mr Ali said that they would wait for a week. If the actor failed to reply, they would file a criminal defamation case.
