Biryani spices for Rs 50 at FP shops

Hyderabad, Feb. 8: Making biryani will not be a costly affair anymore as the state government has decided to make condiments required to make the dish available for Rs 50 per packet at Fair Price shops.Each packet will contain powders of chilli, turmeric, dhania, mustard, black pepper and other spices.In the open market, a packet of biryani spices weighing 660 grams will cost about Rs 150.The civil supplies department has issued orders to sell these packets in five districts: Guntur, Nellore Chittoor, Kadapa and Kurnool.The scheme will be extended to other districts if consumers in the above districts respond well to the scheme.The civil supplies commissioner, Mr Sanjay Jaju, issued orders to launch the scheme after Griha Mitra organisations of Tirupati approached the department with the proposal, explaining advantages of the scheme.Fair price shop dealers will get Re 1 as commission when they sell one spice packet.Meanwhile, the civil supplies department has made arrangements to convert pink cards to ration cards in the state as the annual income limit has been enhanced to Rs 75,000 for each family. It is learnt that over 12 lakh cards will be converted within two months.The civil supplies department has established additional centres to facilitate the conversion of cards.The cardholders can also change their addresses and avail the ration facility at their new residential areas.
